Gemstone by date of birth

A gemstone selected based on your date of birth is a personal talisman calculated from your own individual astrological indicators, not a generic recommendation. Below is the complete method: how to define the stone’s purpose, choose a budget, and calculate your own birth-date talisman step by step, with a real worked example.

How to Choose Your Stone

Step 1. Define the Stone's Purpose

First, decide what you need the stone for. Once you understand the purpose, the choice becomes much easier. If your goal is related to improving your health, the stone must stay in contact with your body — which immediately rules out earrings, since the stone there doesn’t have constant skin contact.

Step 2. Determine Your Budget

Stones and crystals fall into several price categories — from precious to ornamental. Below is the full list of stones in each category. Each category has its own price range. For example, 1 carat of quality yellow sapphire starts, on average, at around $1,000, while quality heliodor starts at around $100.

Several classifications exist worldwide; the list given here is the shortest one, for a general understanding.

Now that you have a sense of the stone’s purpose and an approximate budget, let’s move on to the selection method.

Method for Selecting a Stone by Date of Birth

To choose your stone by date of birth, follow these steps:

1. For every digit in your date of birth (year, month, day, lunar day, day of the week, time of birth), write out the favorable stones (see the tables below).
2. Remove from the list any stones that could be potentially harmful for your zodiac sign.
3. If your Sun is in opposition to your Ascendant, exclude the stones belonging to the sign your Sun occupies in your horoscope (see the explanation below).
4. Highlight the stones that come up more than once
— these are the ones you can wear, though it’s best not to mix them in a single piece of jewelry.

If you need a gemstone amulet based on your date of birth, let’s continue. Be sure to also factor in the stones that suit your Ascendant.
The Ascendant is the constellation that was rising at the moment you were born. It’s also popularly called the Moon sign.

The position of this constellation reveals a great deal about how the vibrations of your subtle body interact with the energy of stones. If your Sun is positioned at a 90° or 180° angle to your Ascendant (the Moon sign) — meaning it forms a tense aspect — that stone isn’t suitable as a permanent amulet. You can still use it for protection in social settings or for specific tasks, but not for everyday wear. But if your Sun is at a 60° or 120° angle to your Ascendant, you can confidently use the stones of your Moon sign.

Summary: How to Select a Gemstone by Date of Birth

You now have a list of favorable stones:

  • by date of birth — for the year, month, day, day of the week, and time of birth
  • by Ascendant (Moon sign) + stones by lunar day
  • with potentially harmful stones already removed from this list: those tied to a 90° or 180° aspect between the Sun and the Ascendant, as well as stones belonging to signs unfriendly to your own zodiac sign

Next, keep only the stones that come up more than once — and those are the stones you can use as your birth-date talisman!

Stones by Lunar Day

Not to be confused with the day of the month above — this is a separate calculation based on the lunar day.

A lunar day isn’t the same thing as a day of the month on the regular calendar. It’s the phase of the Moon at the moment you were born: it shows where in the lunar cycle you were born, and carries its own energetic character regardless of the date on the solar calendar. To find your birth lunar day, you can check a Vedic lunar calendar for the relevant year, or find out this figure during a consultation.

Gemstones by Year of Birth

Your year of birth adds another layer to the selection process. Unlike the day and month numbers, this is governed by slower planetary cycles — such as the transits of Jupiter and Saturn — which don’t act on just one person, but on an entire generation born during that period. So the stone of the year is more of a “background” energy of the time you were born into, rather than as precise a personal indicator as the day or the lunar day.

A Birth-Date Talisman Stone: A Real Worked Example

Let's Look at a Real Example

Task: choose an amulet stone that will help a woman improve her personal life.
Chart details: May 15, 1969; a Thursday, 29th lunar day; 14:30.

1. We put together the list of favorable stones for each digit, plus account for the month of May and the Sun sign, Taurus: agate, aventurine, agalmatolite, turquoise, heliolite, cornelian, onyx, malachite, rose quartz.
2. Favorable stones by date of birth: adularia, amazonite, heliotrope, pearl, emerald, cat’s eye, moonstone, mother-of-pearl, selenite, spessartine, azure-malachite, akbarite, aragonite, jet, gem-agate, xylite, diamond, matrix opal, obsidian, stefanite, chrysoberyl, schorlomite, aquamarine, apyrite, verdelite, coral, kunzite, morganite, cloudy chalcedony, peristerite, plasma, rubellite, charoite.
3. Looking at the chart: the Ascendant (Moon sign) is in Virgo, and receives a favorable aspect from Taurus (120°). So we add the stones for Virgo — albite, white carnelian, rock crystal, jaspilite, jadeite, serpentine, nephrite, onyx, pink tourmaline, sard, uvarovite, chalcedony, onyx, jasper.
4. We check the stone for the year 1969 — cornelian.* The stone for May 15 — ruby. The 29th lunar day — black pearl, mother-of-pearl.
5. Day of the week, Thursday — sapphire, cornelian.
6. Time of birth — 14:30, meaning the 15th hour of the day — beryl.
7. We remove the potentially harmful stones for Taurus — the stones of Scorpio, Leo, and Aquarius: sapphire and serpentine. That still leaves quite a few stones, so we choose the one that repeats — cornelian.
Conclusion: the chosen stone matches the task at hand, since it’s able to draw the energy of affection and love to its owner.

If you don’t like the resulting stone visually, or for any other reason, you can dig deeper into the chart analysis. That, however, will require some knowledge of astrology.

To get the maximum effect from your birth-date stone, it needs to be activated correctly. Every stone requires its own ritual, which includes the right astrological timing and a method of cleansing and activation. I give the full instructions when you order the individual stone-selection service.

Price of the stone-selection service: €100.

Stones by Month in the International Classification

Today, there are authoritative sources that officially publish information on which stone is linked to which birth date. These are the American National Association of Jewelers (ANAJ) and the British National Association of Goldsmiths (NAG). Both organizations were founded in the late 19th to early 20th century and base their rulings on historical documents.

Below is a table linking stones to birth months — currently the only official source of information on this question.
