Online Yoga or Qigong Classes

For most of my life I have consciously practiced various wellness systems. This was shaped by my upbringing in my family and a subconscious pull toward the mystical sciences. Back in school I was already studying compatibility by horoscope sign in Jyotish and memorizing how the points are arranged on the energy channels in the Zhen Jiu acupuncture system of healing. All of this developed into a deep study of the Indian system of Yoga and Chinese traditional medicine with its system of Qigong.

Which system is better? Both systems were created for self-improvement, and the ultimate goal of both is the realization of the higher Truth through the stilling of the mind.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga online

I currently teach online Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga classes. The “Ashtanga Vinyasa” style is a dynamic yoga practice made up of 6 series, each with a fixed sequence of asanas. This is very convenient: after a few classes, the practitioner no longer needs to constantly look up at the teacher, which means the personal practice grows deeper and more effective with every session. This system was developed in 1948 by master Pattabhi Jois.

This style of yoga is set up so that the practitioner memorizes a fixed sequence of asanas that doesn’t change from class to class, and because of this doesn’t need to keep glancing at the teacher, staying focused instead on the breath and the sensations within the body. This approach gradually leads to the highest results in practice.

The first two series are preparatory; their function is to cleanse and heal the body. The following four series are meant for those who already sense their subtle bodies and work with them. In my classes we practice the first two, so they suit both beginners and intermediate-level practitioners.

Qigong classes online

Zhong Yuan Qigong is an ancient Chinese system of self-regulation and wellness, an effective method of energetic and informational communication with the surrounding world and the Universe. The Qigong system uses the same concepts and principles that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is built on: the basic understanding of energy channels and bioactive points on the surface of the body, the teaching of the life force Qi flowing through those channels, the interaction of the two opposing principles Yin and Yang, and the teaching of the five elements, Wu Xing.

In the exercise system of Zhong Yuan Qigong, the work is carried out through precisely prescribed static and dynamic postures, specific breathing, self-massage of particular areas, and mental imagery or visualization — that is, through the work of consciousness, unlike TCM, where the points are acted on with needles or moxibustion, mechanically or through heat. The system’s grandmaster is Xu Mingtang, a lineage holder in succession from the Guardians of the Shaolin Monastery.
